Healthy Eating.. *special edition*

We tend to self indulge ourselves a little too much in this day and age. Its "acceptable" to be self indulgent in todays society! Everywhere its encouraged! Meeting friends out for dinner.. Entree.wine.Main.wine.Dessert... Meeting up for a coffee.. Going out to the movies.. It's a shame we cant say Hey wanna meet in the park and go for a walk.. Lets meet at the pools and chat in the spa .. Come over and ill cook you a healthy well proportioned meal.. We need to retrain our minds! What activities do you do that dont involve food? What food do you choose for yourself when you do go out? Obviously its not about cutting everything out! You can go out for dinner but in moderation! and watch what youre eating.. youre waistline and your wallet will both thank you! Dont let your emotions get mixed up with your food. Food is fuel nurishment for the body.


 
My husband and I were lucky enough to have a day off together on friday! It was so nice! So we went out for breakfast before we were going to do the shopping for the party.
 I had a fresh juce with carrot celery apple and ginger it was so good!!

I'm always trying to think of the healthier option.. and with Evie's 1st birthday it was a big challenge for me. Kids parties what do you automatically think? Lollies... fairy bread.. sausage rolls.. So i decided to have a picnic party. This limited the baked/deep fried foods and BBQ was the only appliance we had! My Nan home made some dips and we had celery carrot and jats to go with it. Lunch was sausages and salads. My mum made her very healthy zuchini slice, we BBQ sausages and had two different salads!

 For dessert a fruit salad and dairy free cake!







 Drinks we had Apple juice, water bottles, sugar free soft drinks and COKE! My husband gave me an anxiety attack when he put this in the trolley!



Another thing was the lollie bags.. i wanted to put boxes of yoghurt covered sultanas, novelty toys and fruit slices.. but was reminded that its a one time thing and parents would monitor their consumption.. So i ended up putting chocolates and toys in..

I ended up having a stomach bug the night before and was ridiculously sick! I wasnt game enough to eat at the party so i was on electrolite drink every 30 mins! It was such a shame i had made all this beautiful healthy food and got to have none of it! But everyone seemed to enjoy the food and hardly any was left over =)

Parties aside its always good to think up healthy recipes to keep it fresh! Here are some of my new ones! and some favourites!




 chicken and super salad on spinach wrap! SO GOOD! wraps are amazing

My delicious apricot muesli slice!!
So easy to make! and a great snack!
 
 Ingredients
3/4 cup Rolled oats
1/2 cup coconut shredded
sprinkle almond flakes
chopped dried apricots x 15
chopped pecan nuts x 15
1/2 cup Brown sugar
1 cup wholmeal flour
1 tsp baking powder
sprinkle cinnamon
3tbsp melted nutellex
(dairy free margerine)
May need more or less of the ingredients i kind of just guessed with the amounts..
 
Mix it all together and press it into a slice tin. Bake on 170.C for 25 mins
This can be frozen in portions or stored for a week

Baked fish!
This was barramundi! Simply cut a few lemon slices and grab some fresh herbs. Wrap it up in a foil parcel and bake on 180.C for 30 minutes turning half way. DELICIOUS!! Also a good BBQ alternative to meat =)



Hope youre all finding your own ways to eat clean.. Substituting heavy carbs for veggies and salad!
Even just being aware of your portion sizes! Remember it all starts with your plate! If you have a small plate youre less likely to over eat! So dont pile up and drink lots of water! Happy eating =)









Stay on track..Push yourself

Fuck motivation.. it comes, it goes.. but where does it really stem from? Why do we let it control us?



 "Motivation is the psychological feature that arouses an organism to action toward a desired goal and elicits, controls, and sustains certain goal directed behaviors. Conceptually, motivation is related to, but distinct from, emotion..."

Consistency! Think about being consistent! If you keep at it you will go far! each little step youre still moving forward! Each tiny little batttle you win youre getting closer to your goal! Dont pave the way for an excuse switch off your negative thoughts and JUST DO IT!!
This week i have been strong! I have exercised my self control with food..  but i have had no motivation to exercise.. well no thats a lie i have PLENTY of motivating factors to lose weight! My trainer gets back next week!


 My cousins wedding in a MONTH! Still havent found a dress because im not happy with my body!

 its starting to get hotter! think.. shorts swimmers and the beach..

Keen for some beach workouts!
Also because while im happy with the progress i have made i know im not there yet.. I can see what i want to look like and its not far away! 10 kgs to go!


 
I forced myself to the gym the other day for a PUMP class.. feeling like shit and not wanting to go but afterwards i felt amazing! I was lifting the same weight as the trainer taking the class and keeping up the whole time! Even on the lunge track where we did squat jump combos blerrgghhh I felt so strong and so proud of myself for coming so far! I remember when i first started at the gym and could barely lift anything and now im having to add even more weight to keep my heart rate up! My muscles were screaming the next day! My whole body was sore! Its been a long time since i have been that sore and it was great! =) haha


Just push yourself that little bit further! You'll get there! When your head is screaming to give up just say one more just one more..push a little but more its amazing how strong you are when you give yourself positive thoughts and encouragement! Youll get nowhere if youre not hurting! Heavy cardio and resistance training is the way to shift the weight! Getting moving is the start but you have to keep stepping it up if you want results! Especially if your eating isnt 100% clean! You have to work twice as hard at the gym!

Brahma Kumaris Retreat..

Amazing...

 i left a little bit late.. and got there when it was much colder than 5 degrees and pitch black!!




 My room.. all by myself was beautiful! Electric blankets helped! and the bed were quite comfy!

I did a course on "transitions" it was pretty hard for me as it was about moving forward and how you have to deal with feelings you may have supressed in order to move on.. Something i have been avoiding for many years. I needed to do it! and i know itll take me a while to actually go through all the feelings but i can do it over time now with what i have learned from the course.. theres no rush and you should never be ashamed of expressing your feelings.. not expressing your feelings can result in alot of other problems.. what i discovered was i was so afraid of how much it hurt to delve into them that i avoided it and tried to fill the hole with other things.. binge eating.. alcohol.. excessive exercise.. sex.. distracting myself from what i had to do. I cried alot over the weekend and ive noticed how much i have been holding my feelings back. It was cleansing and i feel a little lighter as a result! =)

The food was vegetarian and most of it was grown on the property.. it was so beautiful and i didnt even miss the meat! I was constantly worrying about how many carbs i was consuming however haha weightloss junkie in me! Im very tempted to adopt a Pescetarian lifestyle! No meat just fish! and no dairy! but its a little daunting as all i know is cooking meat! I'm going to researched some new recipes and have a go at some vegetarian cooking! Maybe just start off with every second night veggo!

We did alot of meditation which was really relaxing.. so in between the sessions we would meditate atleast twice and in the morning and at night there was special guided meditations..
 
 

I recommend it for everyone! Even if your not really into meditation they are very good at easing you into it! They have all different courses and include day courses! Here is the website for all information!
They are a community based group and dont charge for retreats.. simply ask for a donation if youre willing <3
